Peter Obi Calls for Road Repairs Over New Projects

Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, has called on the Federal Government to focus on repairing existing roads rather than starting new construction projects. In a statement, Obi highlighted the urgent need to rehabilitate critical road infrastructure, citing the Asaba-Benin road as an example of a vital transport corridor that requires immediate attention.

He noted that this road connects several states, including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Abia, Enugu, Benue, and Kogi, and has deteriorated significantly, leading to traffic congestion and hardship for commuters and transport operators. Obi criticized the government's tendency to announce new projects while neglecting the maintenance of current roads, arguing that the focus should be on reconstructing and maintaining existing infrastructure to better serve the Nigerian population.
