JUST IN: Police arrest 116 suspected criminals in Abuja raids

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja has arrested 116 suspected criminals in a series of raids on identified black spots in the area. The operation, which took place between August 1 and August 20, 2025, targeted areas such as Asokoro, Trademore, Mpape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi.

The suspects were found in possession of various illicit substances, including hard drugs and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis. While 89 suspects were released after thorough screening, the remaining offenders have been charged with public nuisance and possession of illicit drugs.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, commended the efforts of the operatives and emphasized the Command's commitment to keeping the capital city safe. Residents were urged to avoid drug abuse and trafficking and to support the ongoing security drive.
