Security Forces Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims in Benue State

On a recent Wednesday night, gunmen intercepted a transport vehicle in Benue State, leading to the abduction of several passengers. The Benue State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ifeanyi Emenari, confirmed the rescue of 13 remaining victims early Sunday morning.

Emenari communicated via text message that the victims would be brought to Makurdi, with a press conference planned upon their arrival. Initially, five victims were rescued, leaving 13 still in captivity.

The police dismissed a statement from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that suggested the victims were not connected to the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, asserting that many were indeed traveling for the exams. The police emphasized the urgency of travel due to the examination schedule, which was set for the following day.
