Davido Urges Action Against Insecurity Amid Criticism

Afrobeat star Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, defended his position regarding Nigeria's kidnapping crisis, calling on public figures to stop prioritizing political agendas and instead speak out against the ongoing violence. His comments came in response to criticism from Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, who condemned Davido's performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert in America.

During the show, Davido wore a jacket inscribed with the names of 39 students and seven teachers who were abducted by gunmen in Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State, on May 15. Rarara released a video online, labeling Davido's act as "foolish" and arguing that it displayed the names of victims on a global platform, potentially damaging Nigeria's international image and promoting terrorism.

In response, Davido rejected the notion that his actions were politically motivated, asserting that anyone who truly cares about the nation should speak out against violence.
