Davido Urges Celebrities to Address Insecurity in Nigeria

Nigerian afrobeat superstar Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, expressed his disappointment regarding the silence of celebrities on critical issues of insecurity and injustice in Nigeria. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, he urged public figures to become more vocal about national issues, stating that the entertainment industry has not done enough to address growing injustices.

Davido acknowledged that celebrities often face criticism whether they speak out or remain silent but insisted that individuals should follow their convictions. He expressed sympathy for the victims of recent tragedies, specifically referencing a recent incident in Oyo State where two teachers were allegedly killed by abductors, which has led to widespread outrage.

Nigerian musician Falz also joined civil society organizations earlier in the week to call for protests against the abduction of schoolchildren.
