Tinubu Addresses Kidnapping of Children and Teachers

President Bola Tinubu spoke about the ongoing situation regarding the kidnapping of children and teachers in Nigeria, specifically referencing incidents in Oyo and Borno States. He directed relevant security agencies to intensify and coordinate rescue operations for the victims currently held captive.

His statement was released on Wednesday, coinciding with the celebration of Eid el-Kabir and National Children's Day. Tinubu reassured families that the government has not forgotten them and will continue to work until the children and teachers are safely returned to their communities.

He ordered the Federal Ministry of Education and state governments to strengthen protective measures in high-risk areas and implement a safe school framework. This includes updating vulnerability maps for schools and enhancing coordination with local security units.

The president also urged communities to report any suspicious activities around schools. The incident involved the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Ahoro Esinel community, Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State, with one teacher, Michael Oyedokun, reportedly beheaded.
