Tinubu Praises Rescue of Abducted Pupils in Oyo State

President Bola Tinubu commended the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after 56 days in captivity. In a statement issued on Friday by his special adviser on media and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the rescue as a significant victory against criminal elements.

He praised the professionalism of the military, police, and intelligence agencies involved in the operation, which led to the arrest of eight suspects and the neutralization of several others. Tinubu expressed sympathy for the families affected by the prolonged abduction and highlighted the trauma and anxiety caused.

He vowed that the government would ensure justice for the victims, including addressing the murder of Mr. Oyedokun during the ordeal.

The President also commended the cooperation between the Oyo State government and federal authorities throughout the rescue efforts and urged state governments to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents in the future. He directed relevant agencies to work closely with the Oyo State government to provide immediate medical and psychological support to the rescued individuals.
