Military Chiefs Move to Maiduguri to Tackle Insurgency

Following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, top military service chiefs, including Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, relocated to Maiduguri on Wednesday morning. This strategic move aims to address the recent spike in Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks across the northeast.

Upon arrival at Maiduguri Air Force Base, the military leaders proceeded to the Theatre Command Headquarters to assess the situation on the ground. They held a closed-door meeting with field commanders to discuss new tactics and intelligence coordination to curb the recent wave of attacks, particularly in Borno and neighboring states.

The presence of senior defense officials in Maiduguri is intended to ensure faster decision-making and direct supervision of operations, which is expected to boost troop morale and strengthen coordination among the armed forces. A briefing for journalists regarding the military's next line of action is anticipated.
