University of Jos Suspends Exams After Deadly Attack

The University of Jos announced the suspension of examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, due to heightened tensions following a deadly attack in Anguwan Rukuba, Plateau. The attack occurred around 7:30 PM when gunmen on motorcycles invaded the community and opened fire indiscriminately, causing widespread panic and resulting in several fatalities and injuries.

In the aftermath, angry youths reportedly blocked major roads in the area. Emmanuel Madugu, the Deputy Registrar, issued a statement emphasizing the need for vigilance among the university community and advised against movements off-campus.

The Vice Chancellor directed the postponement of the examination schedule in light of the situation. The university's security division is working closely with relevant security agencies to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as necessary.
