UNIJOS Resumes Activities After Deadly Attack

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) resumed academic activities on April 7 after a violent attack on March 29 in Angwan Rukuba, which left two students dead and three others injured. Professor Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor, expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended condolences to the affected families.

The attack, which involved unidentified gunmen, led to the Plateau State Government imposing a 48-hour curfew. Academic examinations, initially scheduled for March 30-31, were rescheduled to April 1-2 due to the violence.

Despite the relaxation of the curfew on April 1, renewed violence occurred, prompting heightened security measures on campus. Professor Ishaya confirmed that four students and one staff member were affected, with two students killed and others receiving treatment at JUTH.

Top security officials visited the campus to assess the situation and enhance security. The Vice Chancellor reassured parents about the safety of students and confirmed that examinations would continue on April 13.
