Super Falcons Prepare for Cameroon Friendlies Ahead of WAFCON

Justine Madugu, the coach of the Super Falcons, has highlighted the importance of the upcoming friendly matches against Cameroon in shaping the team's preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Madugu has named a 25-player list for the double-header against the Indomitable Lionesses, emphasizing that individual performances in these matches will play a crucial role in determining the squad's long-term strategy.

During a pre-match press conference on Friday, Madugu expressed satisfaction with the early mood in the camp, which currently consists of 24 players following the arrival of goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozi, defender Michel Alozi, Osinachi Ohal, and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo. The team is based at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade and 16 other players having opened camp to train at the Annex Stade Omnisport Ahmad Ahidjo.

The first friendly is set for Saturday at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé, with a return fixture scheduled for Tuesday, March 3. Nigeria will compete in Group C of the 14th WAFCON alongside Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi, opening their campaign on March 18 in Casablanca, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
