Kaduna Butchers Praise Gov Uba Sani for Abattoir Upgrade

Butchers in Kaduna State commended Governor Uba Sani for the modernization of the Zango Shanu abattoir and the establishment of cold storage facilities, which were inspected during a media tour led by Malam Ahm Maiyaki, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture. The improvements aim to enhance food safety, reduce post-slaughter losses, and increase daily income for butchers.

Jamilu Umar, Vice Chairman of the Sabon Gari Branch Butcher Association, described the comprehensive rehabilitation of the abattoir, which had been in operation since the early 1980s under difficult conditions. The new facilities include a cold room for preserving meat, drastically reducing waste and improving hygiene.

Additionally, Musa Dalhat Abubakar noted the construction of a perimeter fence to enhance security and protect investments. Malam Murtala Dabo, also from the Kaduna State Government, highlighted the administration's commitment to investing across the livestock value chain to strengthen food security and enhance livelihoods.
