KASU Strike Disrupts Services Amid Welfare Concerns

Non-academic staff at Kaduna State University (KASU) have intensified their strike, which commenced on Friday, May 5, 2026, as part of a nationwide action led by the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Nigerian Universities Senior Staff Association (SSANU). The strike has resulted in significant disruptions to administrative services, particularly affecting the processing of student records and documents.

Sources within the university, speaking anonymously, confirmed that staff withdrew their services in compliance with the ongoing strike. Despite the recent implementation of the national minimum wage by the federal government, staff members have expressed dissatisfaction, stating that it does not adequately reflect their welfare.

Cynthia David, a postgraduate student, voiced concerns about the impact of the strike on students, particularly regarding financial pressures and uncertainties surrounding examination preparations.
