Kaduna Lawmaker Kidnapped by Gunmen on North-West Highway, Adding to Insecurity Concerns

On February 11, Usman Garba Zingo, a Kaduna lawmaker representing Kajuru Constituency, was abducted by gunmen suspected to be terrorists while returning from an official engagement in Zamfara State. The assailants intercepted his vehicle near Kaduna metropolis, forcibly removed him, and left the driver behind.

The kidnappers are yet to contact Zingo's family for ransom demands. This incident highlights the escalating insecurity along the North-West highway, with Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states becoming hotspots for kidnapping and armed attacks.

Additionally, recent attacks in Benu State by heavily armed bandits resulted in casualties among civilians and security personnel. The situation underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures in the region.
