Kaduna State Announces Sanitation Closure for February 2026

The Kaduna State Government has announced a mandatory closure of markets, offices, and public places for a sanitation exercise set for February 28, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This initiative, communicated by the Commissioner for Environment, Ahm Maiyaki, aims to strengthen environmental sustainability and prevent disease outbreaks across the state.

During this period, residents are encouraged to clean their homes and surroundings without hindrance. The government emphasizes its commitment to maintaining high sanitation standards for public health.

Abubakar Buba, the Commissioner for Environment, described the monthly sanitation exercise as a key component of the state's healthcare strategy, aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring a cleaner, safer Kaduna State. Community leaders, market associations, and transport unions are urged to ensure compliance, with warnings that non-compliance may result in legal action under existing environmental laws.
