Kaduna Education Commissioner Advocates for PLANE Reforms

Education commissioners from Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Yobe states convened to discuss the continuation of educational reforms initiated by the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigerian Education (PLANE) as its Windows 1, 2, and 3 programs concluded in Kaduna. Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, praised PLANE for enhancing the state's education system through teacher training, distribution of learning materials, and policy improvements.
He noted that over 2,000 new classrooms were built, and more than 136,000 candidates were sponsored for examinations in 2024. Sambo highlighted the narrowing gender gap in secondary school participation and reported that over 25,000 out-of-school children returned to learning.
The program trained over 6,300 teachers and distributed 737,000 learning materials. Sambo urged participating states to adopt lessons learned from PLANE to ensure continued benefits for learners.
