Kaduna State Targets Enrollment of 187,000 Children in 2026

The Kaduna State government has set a target to enroll approximately 187,000 out-of-school children within one year to address the education crisis in the state. Finance Commissioner Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed announced this initiative at the launch of a program by the Street-to-Scholars Foundation in Kaduna.
He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that excluded children return to school, aiming for zero out-of-school children in the next year. The initiative focuses on street-connected and vulnerable children and is designed to complement existing efforts to improve educational access.
Sara Adeniyi, founder of the Street-to-Scholars Foundation, stated that the foundation plans to support about 135 children in its first year, targeting those aged between five and 24 years. The program will encompass primary and secondary education, further education, and skills acquisition.
A Memorandum of Understanding signed on September 8, 2026, between the government and the foundation aims to provide a framework for supporting these children.
