KADSEMA Implements Flood Preparedness in Kaduna State

Kaduna State has initiated proactive flood measures to mitigate the impact of potential flooding. The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has mapped communities vulnerable to flooding, including Rafin Guza, Bashama, Unguwan Rimi, Barnawa, Kabala Costain, Romi, Tudun Wada, Rigasa, and Sabon Tasha.
Temporary shelters have been identified, such as the Namadi Sambo Skills Acquisition Centre and Romi Primary and Secondary School, with emergency tents prepared for deployment. KADSEMA has enhanced its early-warning system by collaborating with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency.
The agency has also successfully evacuated residents from Askolaye following flood warnings, demonstrating effective community engagement. KADSEMA's Public Relations Officer, Philips Dominic, stated that resources are strategically positioned at zonal and local government levels, ready for immediate deployment upon activation of designated safe havens.
The state remains on high alert, emphasizing the need for long-term flood prevention measures.
