Kaizer Chiefs Target Stanlei Nwabali as Goalkeeper Option

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly renewing their interest in Nigerian goalkeeper Stanlei Nwabali as they seek to bolster their squad following an injury to their first-choice keeper, Brandon Petersen. Petersen is recovering from an appendectomy and is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Monday, although his return to action remains uncertain, with recovery typically taking three to six weeks.

The Chiefs recently suffered a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates, leaving them 11 points adrift in the Premiership title race. Nwabali, 29, is currently a free agent after leaving Chippa United earlier this year and has previously attracted interest from the Chiefs during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he helped the Super Eagles secure a bronze medal.

He has made 66 appearances in the Premiership and is recognized as a reliable goalkeeper, making him a compelling candidate for the Chiefs as they navigate a critical stage in the season.
