Kalu Wins APC Ticket Unopposed for 2027 Elections

Benjamin Kalu, the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket unopposed for the Bend Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This occurred during the APC primaries held across 13 electoral wards in Abia State on a Saturday.

The wards involved in the exercise included Alayi, Bend, Ezeukwu, Igber, Item, Itumbuzo, Nkpa, Ntalakwu, Ozuitem, Ugwuek, Umu, Imenyi, Umuhu, Ezechi, and Uzuakoli. The primaries witnessed a large turnout of party members and stakeholders, as stated in a release by Udora Orizu, a special assistant in press affairs.

The party leaders and ward executives unanimously endorsed Kalu, commending his legislative performance and contributions to constituency projects. Kalu, first elected to the House in 2019, has been a prominent figure in the APC in the South East and has pledged to continue delivering democratic dividends to his constituents.
