Samuel Kalu Extends Contract with Botev Plovdiv Until 2029

Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu has signed a new contract with Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, which will keep him at the club until 2029. This fresh deal concludes speculation regarding his future, as he had been linked with moves away from the club during the current transfer window.

Kalu joined Botev Plovdiv last summer after departing from English Championship side Watford. Despite interest from several clubs, including Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia and various Swiss teams, Botev Plovdiv acted swiftly to secure Kalu's long-term future with an improved contract.

The 28-year-old has become an important member of the squad, contributing two goals in 26 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign. His experience and work rate are valued by the coaching staff, and the new contract provides him the opportunity to continue playing consistently while aiming for a return to Nigeria's national team.
