Idris Blames Barau for Gawuna's APC Exit in Kano

Hafiz Idris, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly accused Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, of being responsible for Yusuf Gawuna's departure from the APC. In a statement made on Thursday, Idris alleged that Barau's actions frustrated Gawuna's chances for political appointments and security strategies, ultimately leading to his decision to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Idris further claimed that Barau was actively working behind the scenes to block the nomination of Gawuna's former running mate, Murtala Garo, for the next Deputy Governor of Kano State, following the resignation of Aminu Abdulsalam. He described Barau as being deeply uncomfortable with Garo's potential emergence and suggested that Barau's motivations were politically driven, including considerations of regional balance and influence.

This situation follows Gawuna's earlier decision to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
