Gawuna's Aide Explains Defection to ADC from APC

Ahmad Gogel, a close associate of Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the 2023 governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, disclosed in a phone interview that Gawuna's decision to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was driven by collective interest and support rather than personal ambition. Gogel emphasized that the decision followed extensive consultations with family members and political associates.

He noted that Gawuna remains committed to the party's unity and will support the ADC's candidate selection process, regardless of whether it involves direct primaries or consensus. Meanwhile, APC senior chieftain Alhassan Garba Yarya expressed confidence that Gawuna's departure would not affect the party's chances in the upcoming 2027 general elections, asserting that APC remains a formidable political force in Kano State.

Yarya highlighted ongoing efforts to reorganize and strengthen the party's internal structure to ensure electoral success.
