NNPP Stands Firm on Sons of Late Lawmakers as Candidates Amid Factional Disputes in Kano By-Election

The NNPP remains resolute in its stance that the sons of late lawmakers are its candidates for the Kano by-election, despite reported factional disputes. The party's spokesman, Sanusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, responded to claims of multiple candidates emerging from different NNPP factions, asserting the legitimacy of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's leadership.

The APC had earlier fielded the sons of deceased lawmakers for the election, but NNPP faction leaders, including Ma'ud Jibrin Doguwa, presented alternative candidates. The NNPP's interim Public Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye, emphasized that the nominations of Aliyu Daneji and Aminu Sa'adu for the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies, respectively, are valid.

The party clarified that individuals claiming to be faction chairmen are former members whose memberships have been dissolved. The NNPP urged Batur Dawakin Tofa to focus on official responsibilities and prioritize policies that benefit the public, rather than justifying actions perceived as betraying the party's leadership.
