NNPP Withdraws Nomination, Backs APC Candidates in Kano

Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, a representative of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), explained the party's decision to withdraw its nomination for the Kano State House of Assembly by-election following the death of former lawmaker Aminu Sa.

The NNPP initially announced its candidates but later chose to support the APC candidates to show solidarity with the families affected by the deceased lawmaker's passing. Karaye stated that the situation changed when Kano State Governor defected to the APC, creating confusion among candidates.

The NNPP concluded that coercion led to the abandonment of their candidates, prompting them to align with the APC to resolve the situation. The party withdrew its nomination to prevent potential disqualification by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to double nominations.

Despite not appearing on the ballot, the NNPP remains committed to supporting the endorsed candidates. The election was conducted peacefully, albeit with a low voter turnout.
