Kano Lawmakers Defect from NNPP to APC for Political Stability

In a significant political development in Kano State, 22 members of the State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Jibril Falgore, defected from the NNPP to the APC during a plenary session on Monday. The lawmakers, including major leader Lawan Hussaini, cited the need to promote peace, unity, and development in Kano amidst rising security concerns as the reason for their mass defection.

The decision was made after wide consultations and discussions on legislative matters, including proposing amendments to the Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission Law to strengthen legislative institutions and enhance service delivery. The defectors emphasized that the move was not driven by personal ambitions but aimed at fostering political stability and good governance in the state.

With this defection, the APC now controls 36 out of the 40 seats in the Kano State House of Assembly, while the NNPP retains two seats.
