Kano's Hajaj-ZOEC Digital Market to Generate ₦50bn Revenue

The Hajaj-ZOEC Digital Market, inaugurated on Saturday at the former Luxurious Bus Park along New Road, Tudun Wada, Sabon Gari in Kano, is projected to generate approximately ₦50bn in revenue and create more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to Alhaji Jamilu Abdussalam, CEO of Hajaj ZOEC Real Estate Limited. This market, developed under a Public-Private Partnership involving the Kano State Government, Hajaj ZOEC Real Estate Limited, and ZOEC Construction, is touted as one of the largest dedicated electrical and electronics markets in West Africa.

It will house over 1,500 shops, providing modern infrastructure to support trade and investment. Abdussalam noted that the project, valued between ₦25bn and ₦30bn, has attracted international partners, including companies from Egypt and China.

Currently, 60 to 65 percent of the shops have been sold. The facility includes features such as basement parking for 700 vehicles and underground storage for over 30 forty-foot containers.

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, emphasized the Federal Government's efforts to streamline Public-Private Partnership arrangements to enhance private sector participation in infrastructure development.
