Kano State to Launch Cottage Industry Hubs for Jobs

Kano State Governor Yusuf announced a plan to establish cottage industry hubs across strategic locations in the state as part of efforts to accelerate industrialization, promote local products, and create employment opportunities. This announcement was made during an empowerment program for registered butchers organized by the Cottage Trade Street Hawk Agency (CTSHA) at the Government House in Kano.

According to a statement issued by the governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, the project has been captured in the state’s approved 2026 budget. Governor Yusuf proposed that these hubs will serve as modern production centers for artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, providing shared workspace, modern equipment, reliable storage facilities, business support services, and skill development.

The initiative is designed to improve product quality, enhance competitiveness, reduce operational costs for entrepreneurs, and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which encourages local product patronage. The hubs will feature dedicated sections for meat processing and leather processing to strengthen the state's livestock value chain and attract investment in these sectors.
