Kano Governor Donates 200 Riyals to Hajj Pilgrims

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf announced a donation of 200 Saudi riyals to each intending pilgrim as part of the preparations for the 2026 Hajj. During a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary Mustapha Muhammad, the governor urged pilgrims to conduct themselves responsibly and reflect the true spirit of Islam while in the holy land.

He emphasized that pilgrims should view themselves as ambassadors of Kano State and adhere to the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition to the monetary donation, Governor Yusuf provided free ihram materials to the pilgrims.

Deputy Governor Murtala Garo distributed samples of the ihram materials at the Hajj camp. Abubakar Matawal, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrim Welfare Board, commended the governor's support and noted that despite challenges, the board successfully met the requirements for securing visas for the pilgrims.

The first batch of Kano pilgrims is scheduled to depart for Madinah on May 14, 2026.
