Kano Fire Service Saves 34 Lives, Reports 13 Fatalities

In May 2026, the Kano State Fire Service reported saving 34 lives while unfortunately losing 13 individuals during various emergency operations across the state. The agency, led by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Saminu Abdullahi, responded to a total of 58 fire incidents and conducted 15 rescue operations, although they also received seven false alarm calls.

The operations were carried out from the agency's 30 fire stations located throughout the 44 local government areas of Kano State. The report indicated that property worth an estimated 437.03 million Naira was preserved due to prompt interventions by fire service personnel, despite 144.01 million Naira worth of property being destroyed in fire emergencies during the month.

Alhaji Sani Ana, the director of the Kano State Fire Service, expressed concern over the number of fatalities and urged the public to adhere to safety precautions to prevent such incidents. He emphasized the importance of community awareness and proper safety measures, particularly regarding the handling of electrical appliances and flammable materials.
