Kano Hisbah Bans Mobile Movie Distribution to Uphold Values

The Kano State Hisbah Board, an Islamic moral enforcement agency established by the state government, announced a ban on the distribution and downloading of movies on mobile phones across all 44 local government areas in Kano, Nigeria. This decision was confirmed by Deputy Command General Aminuddeen and is aimed at protecting Islamic values and cultural integrity.

The board's action follows complaints regarding the use of mobile phones to circulate pornographic films and videos, which are deemed inconsistent with Islamic teachings. The enforcement of this directive has already begun.

The Hisbah Board has previously implemented several measures to regulate public conduct and entertainment activities that are considered contrary to Islamic values, including a ban on the use of head mannequins by tailors and prohibiting the term "Black Friday" in promotional sales. Additionally, the board has restricted DJs from playing music at wedding events and banned the commercial distribution of uncensored films on mobile devices.
