Gwarzo Withdraws from Senate Race, Backs Barau Jibrin

Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, the former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, announced his withdrawal from the Senate race for the Kano North seat, endorsing Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President. This decision was made public in a statement on Tuesday, following extensive consultations with political leaders at both national and zonal levels.

Gwarzo emphasized that his withdrawal is intended to promote unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and enhance the party's electoral strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. He referenced discussions with key figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Gwarzo's decision was reportedly influenced by a late-night meeting with APC stakeholders in Kano North, which included prominent political actors such as former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo. He expressed gratitude for the support received from various political associations, youth, women groups, and elder members throughout his campaign journey.
