APC Aspirants Withdraw, Endorse Shekarau for Senate

Six aspirants from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have withdrawn from the race for the Kano Central senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections, endorsing former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau. This decision was reached during a high-level meeting convened by Governor Abba Yusuf in Abuja.

The meeting reportedly took place on a Sunday and involved discussions among the aspirants, including Usman Bala, Sha Aban, Sharada Muhammad, Zango Danyaro, Yakasai Abba, Sani Abba, and Shehu Isa. The agreement aims to promote political harmony and stability in Kano State ahead of the elections.

Governor Abba Yusuf's special assistant on social media, Salisu Kosawa, confirmed the arrangement through a Facebook post. Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April, previously served as the Governor of Kano State from 2003 to 2011 and as Minister of Education from 2014 to 2015.
