Kano State Pays N32bn in Gratuity and Death Benefits

Kano State has disbursed a total of N32 billion in gratuity and death benefits over the past three years, as disclosed by Governor Abba Yusuf. This payment addresses a backlog of N48 billion that was inherited from the former administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.

On Wednesday, Governor Yusuf flagged off the sixth tranche payment of N5 billion, which is part of the ongoing efforts to alleviate the financial burdens faced by retirees and their families. The governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made, noting that N27 billion has already been settled through five previous tranches.

He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to offset the remaining N16 billion by the end of the year, aiming to alleviate the hardships experienced by affected families. The Nigeria Union of Pensioners commended the leadership for its efforts and expressed hope for continued success in ensuring the welfare of retirees.
