Kano Police Reports Significant Crime Reduction in 2026

The Kano State Police Command announced a significant reduction in criminal activity across Kano State during the first quarter of 2026. This achievement was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

The command has undergone restructuring aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving responses to emerging security challenges. The roadmap for 2026 has yielded tremendous results, and the command is committed to maintaining this momentum.

Key strategies adopted include community policing, intelligence-led operations, capacity building for officers, the establishment of a cybercrime unit, and strengthening collaboration with other security agencies. Bakori highlighted the success of operations in Kukan Kura, which played a major role in containing local thuggery known as Fadan Daba.

The command has also worked to curtail bandit infiltration, resolve farmer-herder clashes through dialogue, and arrest suspects linked to various crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.
