Kano Police Arrest Suspect with 879 Cannabis Parcels

On May 13, 2026, the Kano State Police Command arrested a suspect identified as Umaru, known as Jalo, during an operation in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area. The police recovered 879 parcels of cannabis sativa from 18 sacks that the suspect was allegedly offloading.

The operation was part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks linked to drug trafficking in the state, following credible intelligence. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the command, issued a statement confirming the recovery and the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes.

The Commissioner of Police for Kano State, Ibrahim Bakori, emphasized the command's zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and its connection to violent crime and social disorder. The suspect remains in custody and will face charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.
