Kano Police Arrest Drug Dealer, Seize 879 Cannabis Parcels

On May 13, 2026, the Kano State Police Command arrested a suspected drug dealer named Umaru Jalo in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area. The operation, which was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the state, resulted in the recovery of 879 parcels of cannabis sativa.

According to a statement issued by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police acted on credible intelligence and conducted a search that led to the discovery of 18 sacks containing the illicit substance. Kano State Police Commissioner Ibrahim Bakori emphasized the command's zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and abuse, noting that illicit drugs are a major contributor to violent crime and social disorder in the state.

The suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The police also urged the public to continue providing credible information to assist in combating criminal activities.
