Kano Residents Demand Urgent Road Repairs Amid Protests

Residents of Kano, particularly from Unguwar Kwari, held a protest to express their frustration over the deplorable state of a 40-kilometer road that has been neglected for an extended period. The road is riddled with potholes, disrupting daily activities, especially the transport of goods and movement of people.

Sabiu Ado, a leader from the Unguwar Kwari Development Association, highlighted that the situation has led to frequent accidents, resulting in loss of lives and property, and has stifled economic activities in the area. The protesters appealed to the Kano State government, specifically Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for urgent rehabilitation of the road, which is crucial for connecting farming communities to the city.

They emphasized that the government needs to recognize the rights of rural citizens to proper infrastructure. The protest included placards with messages urging the government to listen to their demands for road repairs, which they consider a right rather than a privilege.
