Kano State Resumes Malaria Prevention Program on August 12

The malaria prevention exercise in Kano State is set to resume on August 12, as announced by Dr Usman Bashir, the Chairman of the review committee and Director-General of the State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA). The program had been paused following the establishment of an investigative committee by the state Commissioner for Health on August 5, aimed at examining the preparation, processes, distribution, and implementation of the program statewide.

Dr Bashir indicated that the committee collaborated with Malaria Elimination Programme officers from all 44 local government areas to review and reconcile program data. This review intends to enhance the management, monitoring, and coordination of the malaria prevention efforts.

Additionally, three zonal Monitoring and Evaluation personnel from the State Primary Health Care Management Board have been deployed to improve verification and coordination. Dr Bashir assured stakeholders of the committee's commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that corrective measures would be taken against any individuals found culpable.
