Kano State Plans Data-Driven Malaria Interventions for 2027

The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, emphasized the significance of evidence-based planning and effective resource utilization in combating malaria during a three-day strategic workshop held in Kaduna from August 19 to 21, 2026. The workshop aimed to develop the 2027 Local Government Area Malaria Work Plan, with the commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir.

The workshop focused on creating robust LGA-level work plans to identify priority needs and direct resources effectively. Prof. Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, Director-General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, praised the commitment of participants and the AMCEEN Consortium in enhancing malaria programming.

The workshop's objectives included finalizing intervention targets, conducting situation analyses, and reviewing resources and costs for proposed activities. The outcome is expected to yield prioritized, evidence-based work plans that will guide malaria interventions in 2027, ultimately aiming to reduce malaria burden and improve health outcomes across Kano State.
