Kano Targets 2.95 Million Children in SARMAAN II Campaign

The Kano State Government has launched the third round of the SARMAAN II health campaign, aiming to administer azithromycin to approximately 2.95 million children under five across 36 local government areas. The campaign was flagged off by Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the Kano State Commissioner for Health, who emphasized the state's commitment to improving child health and strengthening the primary healthcare system.

The initiative will involve the distribution of 736,731 bottles of azithromycin, supported by 12,000 health personnel and overseen by 51 supervisors across 28,498 settlements. The campaign seeks to address antimicrobial resistance and ensure that every child has access to quality healthcare.

The Kano State Government remains dedicated to reducing child mortality and has expressed appreciation for the support from the Federal Ministry of Health and other partners involved in the project.
