Kano Trains Health Officers to Improve Maternal Care

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) conducted a training program for health facility officers and desk officers involved in the ABBACare Maternal Service Initiative on Thursday. This initiative aims to reduce preventable maternal deaths in Kano State by improving access to timely and quality maternal healthcare services for vulnerable women receiving antenatal care (ANC).

The training focused on equipping participants with skills to obtain authorization codes and accurately prepare and submit fee-for-service claims for eligible ANC services. Dr Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, emphasized the importance of strengthening frontline systems and personnel to ensure eligible women receive appropriate healthcare without delays.

The training included sessions on the ANC claims process, required documentation, and common errors in claims processing. KSCHMA reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity development to strengthen the ABBACare system and contribute to reducing preventable maternal mortality in the state.
