Kano State Enrols Pregnant Women in 63 Health Facilities

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has directed the immediate enrolment of pregnant women in 63 healthcare facilities across Kano State. This initiative aims to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes and reduce preventable maternal deaths.

The directive, issued by Executive Secretary Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, encompasses 36 secondary and 27 primary healthcare facilities. It aligns with the Kano First Healthcare Agenda and seeks to eliminate financial barriers that hinder pregnant women from accessing essential healthcare services.

The initiative will facilitate access to antenatal care, skilled delivery, emergency obstetric care, and postnatal services. Dr. Rahila emphasized that every pregnant woman deserves timely access to quality healthcare, regardless of financial circumstances.

She also instructed healthcare providers to uphold high professional standards and ensure respectful, compassionate, and patient-centered care. The KSCHMA plans to strengthen collaboration with healthcare providers and stakeholders to enhance healthcare coverage and advance Universal Health Coverage in Kano State.
