Tinubu's Aide Distinguishes Kanu's Conviction from Igboho's Activism

In a statement released on Tuesday, Bola Tinubu's aide clarified the distinctions between Nnamdi Kanu's terrorism conviction and Sunday Igboho's activism. Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is currently serving a life sentence for terrorism charges, which stem from his involvement in insurrection against the Nigerian state, resulting in the deaths of approximately 700 people and economic paralysis in the South East.

In contrast, Sunday Igboho's activism is centered on defending the Yoruba community against criminal activities attributed to rogue herders. Igboho's approach is characterized by peaceful advocacy for the Yoruba nation and self-defense without resorting to violence or armed confrontation.

The aide noted that Kanu's actions included enforcing a sit-at-home order that led to violence and deaths, while Igboho's efforts are primarily defensive against perceived external threats, without targeting the state or its forces.
