Beninese Filmmakers Graduate from KAP Bootcamp, Films to Screen

Twenty young Beninese filmmakers graduated from the KAP-SOPA Pan-African Filmmaking Bootcamp, with two of the three short films produced during the program set to screen at the next edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). This announcement was made by AFRIFF founder and Executive Director Chioma Ude during the graduation and film premiere at KAP Film Village and Resort in Igboyaye, Oyo State.
The two films will be featured in the Students’ Film category at AFRIFF, allowing the graduates to showcase their work on a larger platform. The 12-week program was organized by KAP Film and Television Academy in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Benin through its audiovisual agency, SOPA.
Training began in Cotonou and continued in Nigeria, culminating in the production of three short films. The graduation event included notable figures from the African film industry, such as filmmakers and curators.
Additionally, the event saw the unveiling of ITAN, The Screen Gathering and Awards, a new platform initiated by KAP Group founder Kunle Afolayan, aimed at uniting various stakeholders in African cinema.
