Katsina State Allocates N500m to Combat Child Malnutrition

The Katsina State Government has approved N500 million as counterpart funding for the procurement of nutrition commodities to address acute malnutrition among children in the state. This decision was made during the 15th Regular Meeting of the State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Wednesday at the General Muhammadu Buhari House.

Commissioner for Health, Musa Adamu, stated that the funding would ensure the provision of essential nutrition commodities for children suffering from acute malnutrition and strengthen the state's response to this issue. Additionally, the council approved the procurement of 95,000 bags of assorted grains to assist less privileged and vulnerable residents, aimed at alleviating the effects of economic hardship.

The council also sanctioned the procurement and distribution of non-food items and cash support for vulnerable groups, including orphans and widows. Furthermore, the Special Adviser on Market Development, Mustapha Bala Batsari, announced the modernization of markets in Dandume, Daura, Mashi, and Jibia to enhance commercial infrastructure.
