Katsina State Allocates N4bn for Community Development Projects

The Katsina State Government, through the Community Development Programme (CDP), is set to fund ward projects with N4 billion in community grants, as announced by State Coordinator Dr Kamaluddeen Kabir. Each of the 361 wards will receive N10 million for projects identified by community members, pending approval from Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

This initiative aims to empower communities to address pressing infrastructure challenges, particularly the rehabilitation of dilapidated public facilities. Last year, the state government disbursed N5 billion under the same programme, with an additional N5 billion proposed for the 2027 budget to sustain and expand grassroots development.

The grants are co-funded by the state government and 34 local government councils, with the potential for additional incentives for communities demonstrating effective fund utilization. Kabir emphasized the importance of prudent management of the funds and warned against diversion, stating that communities must monitor project implementation to ensure compliance with approved plans.
