Katsina Governor Radda Proposes N828.64bn 2027 Budget

On Wednesday, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State presented a proposed budget of N828.64 billion for the year 2027 to the Katsina State House of Assembly. The budget, titled “Building Your Future IV,” prioritizes education, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and rural development.

Governor Radda indicated that the budget aims to enhance the lives of citizens and ensure that good governance benefits both urban and rural areas. The proposal allocates N637.91 billion, or 76.98%, to capital expenditure, while N190.73 billion, or 23.02%, is designated for recurrent expenditure.

This budget represents a 7.71% decrease from the approved 2026 budget, amounting to a reduction of ₦69.23 billion, attributed to a disciplined assessment of revenue and expenditure. The governor emphasized that the budget is the most participatory in Katsina's history, shaped by a Citizens’ Budget Exercise conducted across all 361 wards on July 18, 2026, where residents identified and prioritized their needs.
