Katsina Children Demand Action on Climate Threats

Children from Mashi Local Government Area in Katsina expressed serious concerns regarding climate-related environmental conditions that threaten their safety and education. During an advocacy visit to the Mashi council chairman, Salisu Kallah, and district head, Kabir Aminu Iyan, they urged authorities to take swift action.

Isha Mutaka emphasized the need for reliable water sources and clean sanitation facilities to protect student health, especially during flood periods. Halimatu Yusuf called for improved waste management and rehabilitation of drainage systems to prevent flooding around schools.

Salamatu Moham advocated for aggressive tree planting and stricter enforcement against deforestation to create a safer learning environment. The council chairman assured that concrete steps would be taken to address the issues raised, including revisiting existing measures to ban illegal tree cutting.
