Katsina govt deploys eight new armoured vehicles to tackle banditry

Katsina State has deployed eight new Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to enhance security measures in the state, bringing the total fleet to 43, the highest in the northwest zone. Acting Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe unveiled the vehicles following a State Security Council meeting, stressing the importance of cooperation between security agencies and the community in combating banditry and kidnapping.

Jobe emphasized the need for maximum community cooperation, especially in sharing timely information. Recent attacks in Unguwar Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area, prompted the deployment of the new vehicles.

The state is equipped with APCs, surveillance and combat equipment to support the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Police, DSS, vigilante groups, and hunters. The Chief of Army Staff is expected to visit the state for a security assessment, with additional federal support being sought due to the challenging terrain where bandits operate.
